Maggie is my favorite Chinese fencer after my own teacher. We consider Maggie Wudang even though she only had the Yang Tai Chi sword, so far as I know, because she had the grace, balance, footwork and flexibility to really fence the Chinese way. She has the calm. It cannot be overstated how critical that is. Her footwork is every bit as good as Ali, her balance every bit as good as Leonard. Maggie has real technique:
There's a reason she's the only one we're seeing fence with the Professor. There's a reason he's so happy. I would give up my own left arm for a student like that! So would any other teacher. Women are better at jian.
Throw a rock these days and you'll find someone who does Tai Chi sword.
